Women in Music with Millie Cotton
A new podcast sharing the tales of modern singular voices in music – they all just happen to be female.
- Episode one is out 25th September, in conversation with Anna Prior (Metronomy, Soho Radio) -
Hosted by DJ, writer and podcast producer Millie Cotton, Women in Music presents a series of frank conversations and interviews with brilliant music makers and enablers about the industry. The first episode is available to download now on iTunes and Spotify.
With new episodes released every Tuesday, season one has six weekly episodes featuring singular voices in music from artists and musicians to promoters and producers. After introducing the guest with a round of quick-fire questions, each episode is no more than 30 minutes in length.
Millie’s first guest is Anna Prior, drummer for Metronomy (previously Dev Hynes/Lightspeed Champion) and a Soho Radio regular. Anna and Millie discuss the world of drumming, finding creative and musical partners in Metronomy, Metronomy’s new album Metronomy Forever (released September 2019), challenges of life on tour, role models and advice worth passing on. Other season one guests come from all corners of the music industry, and will be announced as their interview goes live.
Millie wanted to use her platform to elevate female voices in music by sharing the career paths of brilliant women to explicate the industry and inspire others. Having previously had conversations with eminent artists Charli XCX, Jorja Smith, Elliphant and many others for Nylon, Wonderland and Rollacoaster magazines, a podcast of this genre and style seemed a perfect fit.
Women in Music with Millie Cotton is Millie’s second podcast, having written, produced and co-hosted Keeping it Candid, which reached the top 20 charts on iTunes, received over 35K+ international listeners a month and sold-out live recordings.
